Over the past 30 years, we’ve developed a joyful martial arts programme tailored to the unique needs of younger tamariki. Rooted in traditional Gung Fu and enriched by the natural wisdom of Aotearoa’s native birds, this approach helps children grow strong in body, calm in mind, and kind in spirit. Each class is filled with playful challenges that support coordination, balance, emotional awareness, and confidence—all through movement that feels like fun, not pressure.

We draw inspiration from five iconic New Zealand birds to guide the children’s journey: the Fantail (Pīwakawaka) teaches playful awareness, the Tūī encourages confident self-expression, the New Zealand Falcon (Kārearea) builds focus and courage, the White Heron (Te Kōtuku) nurtures calm movement, and the Morepork Owl (Ruru) fosters stillness and listening. These qualities are woven into every lesson, creating a learning experience that supports resilience, social connection, and self-protection with compassion.
We work to equip our students to face life's challenges, to conquer fears, and to set and achieve goals. Our Monday & Wednesday afternoon classes are a balance of fun Kempo games and more focused training.
