Module 2
Chen Short Form Foundations training course
Grand Master Chen Xiao Wang I will be referencing and teaching key Chen Tai Chi exercises and forms which will greatly help those currently focused on Chen Tai Chi form - or looking to in the near future. Within the Chen Tai Chi module I will guide you through important foundation exercises such as reeling silk and how it applies to body mechanics. The gentle coiling and twisting of the body during reeling silk practise is great for circulation and tones the body from the inside out. Those interested in the martial arts will enjoy the way the body stores and releases power without strain. Learning the Chen style is not easy, it requires a certain level of fitness and dedication to be able to do the more demanding steps, kicks, jumps and to show explosive power. Older adults can certainly learn the Chen form and we have many people 70+ who have accomplished skill levels in this form. I have spent many years carefully considering, modifying and tailoring the form for people of all ages, however, I also want to teach it the way it was meant to be practised as a Martial Art for those who are ready. I first started learning Chen Tai Chi as an 18 year old 3rd degree black belt. The Chen Tai Chi form resonated with me as it closely related to Shaolin Chuan Fa (Kempo), blending and combining hard and soft principles that help to generate explosive power without tension. |
