This exercise is great for building strong connections with your legs, pelvis, waist, spine and arms. People who practise Chinese Martial Arts such as Shaolin, Tai Chi, Ba Gua & H'Sing l use this exercise to open up the body for improved energy and blood flow which is great for health and greatly improves the ability to release power for Self Defence.
As well as the exercise I have added the outside forearm blocking technique to protect your centre line. This block can also be used as an offensive technique as the power can be focused into the hammer fist or forearm.
Most Kempo classes start with this exercise, many extensions can be added to this core exercise. Try practising it after you have been sitting for a sustained period of time, It will do wonders for your lower back.
